Science Honors Program
Programming in Java

THESE PAGES ARE OLD. NEW PAGES BEING CONSTRUCTED: HERE.

Welcome to the Java Programming class of the Science Honors Program at Columbia University. You can look at the (approximate) syllabus to see what we will be doing and for some notes on the material. You can also look at some sample java code.

For reference, you might go to java.sun.com, and you might look at the API Specification in particular. You can also look at a basic UNIX tutorial. The O'Reilly Java books are OK if you're looking for hardcopy - Exploring Java or Learning Java or Java In A Nutshell..

I prefer if students explore the language in whatever way suits them, but will try to provide projects for those who want to have them. Please always feel free to tell me if I am going too fast or too slow or if I'm just not making any sense at all.
