About SPS Officers

President (2009-2010) Dominic Scaletta
Previous Positions Vice President (2008-2009),
Treasurer (2007-2008)
About Dominic I am from Chicago, Illionis, and I never want to live anywhere that cold again! When I am doing physics, my hobby is math. When I am doing math, my hobby is physics. And when I am doing other things, my hobby is math and physics. I also enjoy the outdoors and I try to explore the strange facets of Manhattan or anywhere else I happen to live. I am currently doing research in high energy nuclear physics with the Columbia University PHENIX group. This consists of a lot of data analysis and programming, which has been a lot of learning and a lot of fun.
Major Mathematics (concentration in physics)
Goals My current goals are to attend graduate school next year for a PhD in mathematical physics. My long term goals are to stay in academia and continue to do research until I die.

Secretary (2009-2010) Anne Norrick
About Anne I am from Farmland, Minnesota, and my main interests are science, coffee, and public radio. I currently work for the Columbia Neutrino Group on the Double Chooz reactor neutrino experiment, counting neutrinos in the mountains of Northern France.
Major Physics (concentration in history)
Goals Next year I plan on going to graduate school for physics somewhere. Or I will join the circus.

Albert Rigosi Treasurer (2009-2010) Albert Rigosi
Previous Positions Treasurer (2008-2009)
About Albert I am originally from northern New Jersey. I currently do research in condensed matter physics (playing with data ? and lasers). I have previously done research in nuclear physics. Some of my hobbies include: tunneling, philosophy, adventuring in NYC, Philolexian society, and psychonautics.
Major Physics
Goals I hope to one day get my PhD in physics. Maybe one day I can travel the world, and from there, I will let life take me by the hand and bring me through unique experiences and unforgettable moments!

Petr Kout Webmaster (2009-2010) Petr Kout
About Petr I come from the Czech Republic. I lived in Florida for two years, then moved to New York City and who knows what part of the world I will be exploring after I graduate. My hobbies include biking (not in NYC, no room for my bike), hiking, reading, computer programming, and, mainly, learning how the world works across all natural sciences (physics being the most fundamental and most beautiful one, of course). I also have a strange interest in discovering and exploring new coffee shops, for which New York City is probably the best place on Earth :)
Major Physics (concentration in math)
Goals I do not really have any exact long term goals. However, I have been very interested in propulsion systems and satellites, so if my life continues towards that direction, that would be interesting :).
